Bringing the outdoors IN- Scenic rooms I love

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

There is something about the organic nature of tree & vines INSIDE that

I LOVE!

Here are a few of my favorites and a little tid -bit under each as to WHY!

Maybe it is SPRING and I am ready to be outdoors too…

This room was hard since it had heavy moulding ,the trees add a sense of place, which is nice for a dining room.  It also can be accented with ANY color when entertaining which is also a plus.

Who wouldn’t feel great everyday getting ready in this closet/dressing room!  The hand painted Gracie Wallpaper is Classic.

I like the tone of the colors in this room, light and airy.  The trees are a bit angular for me, but it all looks nice!   A light blue-grey ceiling might pull the room together?

No Crown Moulding (funky ceiling angles)= No Problem

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

I often see “no crown moulding” as an advantage in decorative painting.

The ceiling is the “fifth wall” and is usually ignored.

Here are a few examples:

This little girls nursery has a lot of funky angles in the room, the “canopy”, created by the scrolly border enabled the funky lines to be incorporated into the design.  The light colors keep it soothing and calm.

The Scale makes all the difference! (of patterns that is…)

Saturday, March 6th, 2010

This is what you cannot achieve with wallpaper.

The scale of the pattern on the walls!  This idea would look great in so many color combinations it makes my head spin just thinking about it!

The Morroccan pattern in this living room is really perfect.. I do not use that word , perfect, very much, because I truely do not believe that anything is perfect….except when I came across this pattern, color, scale in this living room!   {thank you Eric Roth, Los Angeles}

Look at your walls, and start acessing scale….

RE- THINK THE ROLLER BLIND

Southern Living this month has used TWO of my products in a Done-in-a -Day piece.

Anne Turner Carol did an amazing job with these two projects. I am ready to decorate some roller blinds!

get the full tutorial here: Southern Living

She used the Knot Stencil available at Sunny’s web site.  I love how she used it! Any stencils would work for this project.

Here she applied one of our removable wall monograms, (again available on Sunny’s website) to a roller blind,

SO CLEVER!! So Sophisticated, SO Simple!
