Transform the “Built-In Bookcase” to a Piece of painted furniture!

Saturday, April 24th, 2010

Built – In furniture really is great, it has very clean lines, fits perfectly into the space, provides great storage, BUT…

It lacks Character!

SO

What if the crown moulding above the Built-In is connected to the rest of the room?

If it is part of a Built-In paint it the SAME color as the Built- In,

This really CAN be different then the rest of the trim in a room!

REALLY, YOU CAN do this!

Here is an example- This Built-In used to be the SAME color as the rest of the trim in the room!

What a huge difference.

Enjoy!

THE ENTRANCE

Doorways set the tone for what you are about to experience- at least that has been my thought process for awhile.

Whether you are coming into a home, or moving from room to room, you can create a great entrance!

Here are some cool ideas, INSIDE and OUT…

I LOVE the decorative painting around this dining room/ kitchen door.

Absolutely awesome! REALLY can you imagine if you HAD to look at this every day- it is so cool.

It  is great with or without the blue chinoiserie painting and tassels.

I have a thing for PINK, so naturally I love this.  It really works since the walls are white,

the floor is white and the bedding is white with details in PINK!

The baseboard in pink outlines and finishes the room.

Paint the runner- up the steps!

Wednesday, April 7th, 2010

I have yet to actually paint a runner up a flight of stairs.

I LOVE the idea though and can only imagine all of the incredible possibilities!

Check these ideas out-

The ORANGE really pops! I like the band along the top of the baseboard too!  Nice and graphic!

This Simple BLUE defines the staircase- I like when I see one knows when to stop. Very chic.

Stripes in varying widths and shades of grey and blue is classic and casual, SORT OF BEACHY.
