Ceiling Canvas

February 1st, 2010

I have painted many ceiling canvases for designers in Virginia.

Here are a few of my favorites.

Here I cut the shape, painted the canvas, and then had it wallpapered to the ceiling before my chandelier was hung.

Another one of my favorites.

The background of the canvas is painted the same color as the ceiling, so when it is hung it really looks like it is painted on the ceiling,  and  the gold reflects the light which is nice.

Just a simple shape can make all the difference.

I hope this has got you thinking about your ceilings…

I was just curious what type of canvas you use for this and what type of paint?

Sara- I use a VERY thin primed canvas called “Sign Cloth”, and latex house paint.

Can you tell me the color paints that you used for the blue and gold stencil on the ceiling? Also can you recommend a neutral color that can be painted throughout a home? A go to color that tends to go with everything, if there is such a thing. We are moving into a new home and it needs a lot of work. I would like to stencil and glaze the walls later. Right now I just need a neutral base. I LOVE your work!

I have just fallen in LOVE with Farrow and Ball paints- all of their colors are very elegant and easy to live with , even their bolder shades!
