I do not often take on “Whole Room” projects, this one though I could not resist!

Especially since it is a surprise for an amazingly sweet girl.

When she was 5,  I did her “new room” in her new home, since I had painted her nursery in her previous home.

Well, she is turning 14 this summer and I was enlisted to help transform her room while she was away at summer camp.

This room should take her through high school and beyond.

I will take you through the thought process with pictures!

enjoy!

(above) THE FINISHED ROOM

THE INSPIRATION

Serena and Lily Bedding which inspired the Eliza Stencil by Sunny

Placing the stencil pattern- it is very nice and subtle in white on light  blue walls

removing the stencil

finished wall pattern!

Notice—the large Eliza stencil is upside down,

while the medium is right side up- just FYI

New headboards from Pottery Barn- we had them monogrammed at Atlantic Embroidery

The green is a little bolder than the other greens in the room, so the monogram would not fade away.

The desk area also got a big makeover, with a nice new bulletin board, and a floor lamp,

which leaves more room on her actual desk to get work done!

here is a link to another blog post of mine, if you re interested in making your own.

Sunny’s how to make bulletin boards

The curtains are made of white pique and the green fabric on the trim is not a really clear bright green,

but a yellowish sort of off-green.

In the future the shades would look great with ANY wall color.

here is what we changed:

new paint, carpet,  headboard, duvet and pillows, window treatments, and lamp shades, desk chair

this is what we re-used:

dresser, small white lamps, desk, coverlets, mattress and box springs

Where did you have the curtains made? They are simply lovely! Every other detail I love as well – especially the color scheme!

I wish I could point you in a direction to purchase them already made! Please show the picture to someone who makes curtains and copy them!

    Hi!!!

I am trying to re-do my room based on my Marina cover by S&L too!

What paint colors did you use? I want to use the green as the background, and possibly a light blue on top (so the reverse) I plan on buying both sizes of the Eliza stencil asap too!

    Let me know!

  6. admin says:

I would use a lighter green Ben Moore Chameleon would be good since it is a little yellow but not too much!
As for the blue I would go a bit deeper so it will show up! Ben Moore Sweet Bluette would be good!

    glad you like the room!
the Eliza Stencil is nice in the two sizes!
