I have yet to actually paint a runner up a flight of stairs.

I LOVE the idea though and can only imagine all of the incredible possibilities!

Check these ideas out-

The ORANGE really pops! I like the band along the top of the baseboard too!  Nice and graphic!

This Simple BLUE defines the staircase- I like when I see one knows when to stop. Very chic.

Stripes in varying widths and shades of grey and blue is classic and casual, SORT OF BEACHY.

These steps are outside.  The different pattern in grays on each riser adds a lot of interest.  The choice to restrict the palette makes it work!

I LOVE the numbers! The crisp navy/black on the white is old schoolhouse, and with little people running around…what fun!

Note the tine pinstripe on each side of the white makes this really finished.

more numbers on YELLOW!!!

HERE the risers were wallpapered – since it is SO graphic and colorful it is the ONLY pattern in the space which is why this works!

Can you Imagine all of the cool wallpapers there are out there just waiting to be stepped on!  I can think of a few that would be AWESOME!
