Focus on kids rooms when moving….

Monday, October 3rd, 2011

Moving to a new home is stressful enough…much less throwing decorating into the mix,

and making each childs “new” room feel special-

Decorative painting is different , easy and can give the instant unique personality to a room in a jiffy.

Below we painted headboards on the wall and added monograms to make it personal…

for an adorable tomboy!

These can grow with her for years…and can also be painted right over when a change is needed!

our Hannah Stencil works great with this pattern, or the Hanna inside,

Inverted Hannah, and the Hannah Outside..options are endless..

Sunny’s and Serena and Lily work great together for kids rooms

I admire this client for focusing on her children’s rooms when she moved…

it showed them that their space was important which in turn made the move a little easier!

hope you are inspired!

Jolly Roger Bathroom for two cute boys!

Thursday, July 14th, 2011

Jolly Rogers made this one day guest room bath,   a sophisticated  ” fun”,

for  two young boys….

who want to be closer to mom and dad.

The deep charcoal gray is a nice contrast to the blue tile and marble counter tops

and the “preppy” placement of stencils make them more fun and cool…. than scary.

When it is time for the boys to move upstairs to their bigger rooms away

from mom and dad-

the marble and tile will all stay , and the paint…

well …paint over it!

Going from 13 to 18 and beyond, updating a girl’s bedroom

Monday, July 19th, 2010

I do not often take on “Whole Room” projects, this one though I could not resist!

Especially since it is a surprise for an amazingly sweet girl.

When she was 5,  I did her “new room” in her new home, since I had painted her nursery in her previous home.

Well, she is turning 14 this summer and I was enlisted to help transform her room while she was away at summer camp.

This room should take her through high school and beyond.

I will take you through the thought process with pictures!

enjoy!

Friday, June 4th, 2010

I was recently asked to help design a “homework” room for a family with FIVE girls!

SO here is what we came up with:

IKEA LERAN lights, 24 in diameter- 89.99 each,

and built-in desk for each girl

Stenciled desk top, using  the Hannah whole, and Hannah inside

from Sunny’s Stencils

No Crown Moulding (funky ceiling angles)= No Problem

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

I often see “no crown moulding” as an advantage in decorative painting.

The ceiling is the “fifth wall” and is usually ignored.

Here are a few examples:

This little girls nursery has a lot of funky angles in the room, the “canopy”, created by the scrolly border enabled the funky lines to be incorporated into the design.  The light colors keep it soothing and calm.

RE- THINK THE ROLLER BLIND

Southern Living this month has used TWO of my products in a Done-in-a -Day piece.

Anne Turner Carol did an amazing job with these two projects. I am ready to decorate some roller blinds!

get the full tutorial here: Southern Living

She used the Knot Stencil available at Sunny’s web site.  I love how she used it! Any stencils would work for this project.

Here she applied one of our removable wall monograms, (again available on Sunny’s website) to a roller blind,

SO CLEVER!! So Sophisticated, SO Simple!

Striped Ceiling & Canopy Effects

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

I have always loved the way stripes, if carried onto a ceiling, can created a “tented” effect.

I think I like how the ceiling encompasses the WHOLE room and makes the atmosphere so much more inviting.

Here are a few neat examples:

If  the wall space is “up” and closer to the ceiling this is a nice way to unify the walls and the ceiling,

rather than chopping them up with different colors.

Wall Monograms

Monograms have simply made their debut on WALLS.  These are actually removable wall stickers!

I love how they can take center stage and make a room personalized and stylish.
