Room to grow…new nursery from Sunny

Sunday, February 27th, 2011

I have the wonderful luxury of meeting the nicest people through my work…many become dear friends.

I also stay connected to different age groups which is also a gift…

I am finished having babies, so helping decorative paint nurseries is especially fun for me.

Here is Ainsley’s Nursery:

She arrived today!

Her room is designed to grow with her.

We chose a paint treatment ,

and fabrics that would easily transform into a little girls room, or even a teen!

The rocker , crib skirt and bumper  fabrics came  from Williams and Sherrill.

(Patty Ryan is great to work with there.)

the teal monogram is from our web site, as well as the Ainsley border

Mirror over the changing table is from {V for the home} $225

Down the hallway to the bathroom was a huge wall,

so we made a big memory board to stash notes and cute baby pictures, for her arrival!

And, lastly we made her bathroom super punchy with the LARGE ROSE stencil in aqua on a lavender wall,

the same fabric from the bedroom is used in this window as well.

This whole room and bathroom can easily grow with this little one!

No Crown Moulding (funky ceiling angles)= No Problem

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

I often see “no crown moulding” as an advantage in decorative painting.

The ceiling is the “fifth wall” and is usually ignored.

Here are a few examples:

This little girls nursery has a lot of funky angles in the room, the “canopy”, created by the scrolly border enabled the funky lines to be incorporated into the design.  The light colors keep it soothing and calm.

Striped Ceiling & Canopy Effects

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

I have always loved the way stripes, if carried onto a ceiling, can created a “tented” effect.

I think I like how the ceiling encompasses the WHOLE room and makes the atmosphere so much more inviting.

Here are a few neat examples:

If  the wall space is “up” and closer to the ceiling this is a nice way to unify the walls and the ceiling,

rather than chopping them up with different colors.

Posh Tots Nurseries

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

Richmond has a lot of creative minds, I feel lucky to be amongst so much talent in a relatively small town.  I have been lucky to paint the sets for POSHTOTS catalog for a few years now.  What a fun crew to work with!

Below are a few of my favorites, it is amazing what a little wall stencil can do…

Blue birds on chocolate brown walls are quite striking, and simple.
